Who we are
Atlas RescueMed is a firefighter-focused medical training company based in Alberta, Canada. The company was founded by Katie Corbett and Kaylin Nolin, two registered Primary Care Paramedic/Firefighters with extensive frontline experience in Emergency Medical Services and Fire-Rescue environments.
Atlas RescueMed was created to address a gap frequently identified by firefighters and training officers: while firefighters receive rescue training and standard first aid education, there is often limited training on what to do medically in the critical minutes immediately after a victim is removed from a hazardous environment.
Drawing on their combined experience in EMS, fire service operations, and medical education, Katie and Kaylin developed After the Grab, a scenario-based training program focused on immediate post-rescue patient care. The program emphasizes practical interventions firefighters are most likely to perform on scene, including burn and airway management following fire rescue, hypothermia and near-drowning care after water incidents, trauma assessment following vehicle extrication, and firefighter-specific CPR considerations.
Atlas RescueMed training is designed to be practical, operationally relevant, and firefighter-driven, prioritizing real-world rescue scenarios over traditional bystander-focused first aid curricula. Courses are delivered directly to fire departments and training academies, allowing crews to train in familiar operational environments while developing the medical skills needed to stabilize patients during the critical moments following rescue.
The company’s mission is to bridge the gap between rescue and patient care, equipping firefighters with the confidence and competence to recognize life-threatening conditions and initiate effective interventions immediately after the grab.
